Trends to Try.

*Update: Please disregard the "bored and delaying work" part because I began writing this yesterday. This statement is not true, as I just finished all my homework for tomorrow and wrote a two page single spaced essay on why I want a leadership position for my job next year.*

I'm bored, and delaying working on any type of productive work, so I decided to do a fashion-y post about some trends I'm excited to try! Hopefully I do get to try these trends, but only after my plane tickets for May 21 are purchased! [which is a change from the original date of May 24 but, hey now it's only 50 days!] So here we go! [all images courtesy of Google images, Forever 21, Polyvore, and Payless.]

Photobucket

I've always wanted to try a maxi dress! I always feel like they'll make me look short though. We'll see if I find one I like for this summer. Do any of you have any experiences with a dress of this kind of length? Let me know what you think/thought of it!

Photobucket

I'm also really excited to try to find a cute floral skirt! Probably not this one, as it's out of my price range, but there's always hope! Forever 21 is always an affordable alternative anyway!

Photobucket

I've also never tried the "gaudy" jeweled sandal craze but I think I'm ready to jump on the bandwagon! These adorable ones are from Payless, they're definitely on my list of things to purchase for this spring/summer!

Photobucket

I've also never had a good, cute pair of summer wedges, and I cannot seem to get over how cute these ones from Payless are! I can't wait until I've bought my plane tickets so I can stop swooning and actually own them!!! Ahhh I'm in love!

Photobucket

I want a straw fedora! Would that not be the perfect Cali chic/cool item?

Photobucket

This skirt was beyond perfect when I saw it at Forever 21 last Friday but it's sold out both online and in store, so I replaced it with this one:

Photobucket

Which I think is just as cute, if not cuter!

Other things I want to try that are not necessarily "trends" but rather just things I want to give a go:

Photobucket

Maybelline One By One Mascara: I've tried their Falsies one and I love it but my sister in law swears by this!

Photobucket

Teal Nails: Such a summery/springy color!

Photobucket

Nars Orgasm Blush: I've heard this peachy-gold shade compliments any and all skin tones and gives you a very dewy look, but for $28, it's kind of out of my price range.

Photobucket

This gel: I've been looking for a good product to make my self-made waves stay even after my hair is dry, and I heard through the grapevine that this one will do the trick!

Photobucket

Jergens Natural Glow Self-Tanning Lotion: For a pale girl like me who can go literally all summer without getting any color, something like this is ideal and I've only ever heard great things about it, that's why this is definitely on my list of things to try!

What are you dying to try? What are you not liking for this spring? What are you loving? Leave it in the comments, I'd love to know!

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! :)

Oh Spring Fever...

Apparently Spring Fever has hit me hard. Check out this attempt at a vlog where I discuss it originally being for a contest, then over the course of the video decide not to enter it, and instead begin to lose my mind. Hope it makes you smile or laugh!

A New Look For a New Season!

As you may (or may not) have noticed, I've got a new look going here! And I can safely say I love it! It is very springy and we are indeed beginning a countdown to my California summer, or at least I am! [It's 55 days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes in case you were curious...]

I just felt as though I needed some new colors for spring, and I was getting kind of sick of the busyness of the old layout. If you follow me on twitter you know that I was having the hardest time trying to figure out how to change everything around because it took me a while to learn it last time, but no fear! I figured it all out!

Unfortunately it looks as if I won't be around all that much in the coming days, as I have a ton on my plate, including a 7-9 page English paper to write! Whew! Wish me luck!

Hopefully I'll find some blogging time this weekend. If not, I'll at least post some pictures of recent adventures in Boston with me and the girls! And of course, as promised, a California trip post is coming as soon as I get some of this work out of the way and have some time to sit down and sort through the many photos I took with my iPhone (as my camera is broken...)

Anyway, this is getting lengthy and I must get to sleep so that I'll be able to pay attention in Spanish class tomorrow! [Which is completely critical to my being able to understand Prince Royce songs!]

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! :)

Okay, one more...

Sunday's Lesson: Bachata :)

Yes it's Sunday, and no we don't have class today, but I want to talk to you/teach you about something I have (fairly) recently learned! So buckle up, and get ready to learn about Bachata!

So what is this Bachata thing, Abby? You may ask.

Well, Bachata is an amazing, super fun dance that originated in the Dominican Republic (shout out to mi Dominicana! You know who you are!) According to Wikipedia it is a full 8 count in side to side motion. On every fourth beat, you tap and pop your hip a little bit. It 's more complicated to explain in words than it is to show you. (I'll plug some example videos in at the end so you can see what it looks like.) As with any other Latin dance, it is very hip oriented, and smooth.

There's also another component to Bachata, as there is with any dance: the music. Often very romantic (and obviously in Spanish, one of the most -at least in my opinion- seductive/romantic languages ever.) and slow, it is the kind of music that puts you at ease and makes you just want to sway back and forth in a peaceful rhythm. In addition to this, a couple of the Bachata singers I've become familiar with are quite easy on the eyes :)

So here, enjoy my current favorite Bachata song, and some videos that showcase the dance itself.

Corazon sin Cara - Prince Royce
(This literally translates to "faceless heart", the song is about
inner beauty and love living within one's soul.) Lyrical translation here.

and here are some videos to teach you, if you desire to learn... (they're really short.)

and the finished product (although much less professional) looks like this:

Enjoy, and Happy Sunday!

I Know I've Been MIA.

Life is deciding to slap me in the face at the moment. ie) giant migraine tonight while I was attempting to write a paper that's due tomorrow. So, please, bear with me while I continue to be MIA for a little while longer. I may be able to return to you all sometime after the weekend is over.

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! :)

Buried.

I've had my nose buried in this book for an hour already and I'm nowhere near done.

Still have to study for a Spanish test, read an article and write a Politics paper on it, and write a quick 1-3 page response on character description in either, The Giver, Anne of Green Gables or Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, none of which I have read. I hate homework and school, for the first time in my life.

Peace, ♥ , and happiess! =)

First Ever OOTD! =)

Okay, so I'm trying my hand at OOTD's (Outfit Of The Day) and I'm not really sure how it's gonna go, so bear with me! Today it is sunny, breezy, and we've reached a high of 69 degrees here in Boston. :) SPRING HAS SPRUNG! So here's the outfit I chose for today, enjoy!

[Disclaimer: My camera is currently broken, so webcam & iPhone photos will

have to do it for now. Please excuse the blurry-ness.]

I actually didn't wear the shoes to class cuz I was running late this morning and running 2 blocks in 5 inch pumps was not an option, so I wore sandals. Also, not mentioned is a leather jacket from Forever 21 that I wore this morning when it was still chilly.

Hope you enjoyed this, let me know if you'd like to see another OOTD sometime soon! :)

I don't have much to say.

For the moment I don't have much to say other than there seems to be some sort of gastrointestinal virus going around and I'm praying I don't get it. Oh, and HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

To Say Goodnight.

I'm off to bed but I wanted to let you all know that if I'm not around much this week it is due, in large part to schoolwork and the fact that I'm jet lagged. Case in point: it's 1:30 AM, I'm not anywhere near tired, and I have class early in the morning. So this week is a rough one. I'll be back just as soon as I can, and I'll update you with pics (of course!) on my Spring Break adventure! (Or lack of adventure as the case may be.)

Stick with me, I'll be back soon!

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

Short Musical Monday...

A couple of my new favorite songs, excuse the "techno" theme... =)

Enjoy!

Back at it again.

Back at school! Already unpacked but not quite organized yet. I took a bit of a nap for a while. It's actually not that cold here! It's pretty decent for March 13th!

I wrote a paper for Spanish, and am now looking up all the music I listened to on the radio in San Diego.. hehe. *blush*

My brother introduced me to this new app for iPhone called iheartradio. Basically it's a satellite radio on your phone and you can listen to a Boston station (for example) in any part of the country. They also have it online, at iheartradio.com.

That's all for now. I'll be back soon with pics from the trip and a more thorough summary of what happened on my visit!

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

I'm in New Jersey!

Here I am in Newark... Waiting for my next flight out to Boston, where I will be meeting my roommate and heading into the cold back to the dorms... Yay! Sort of.

I wanted to post a picture, but this iPhone blogging app won't let me =( I'll post it on tumblr. Check for it there.

Oh well. My last day in Cali was miraculous... Kinda. I went shopping (if you've friended me on Facebook you saw what I bought) went to an amazing BBQ place, and went to Guitar Center with my brother and his friend before just chilling and then heading to the airport.

I'm ready to head back to Boston in a way but in another way, I'm not. All I know right now is that I choked back tears during takeoff and for the first half hour of the flight, and that I'll be back there soon.

Til' later.

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

Tonight I Made Fried Ice Cream.

Call me crazy, but I did. Want the recipe? I'll share it sometime in the very near future.

Tomorrow, I leave paradise for 2 more months of H E double hockey sticks at school and in Boston. Good thing that between now and then there will be plenty of friend dates and a Bruno Mars concert to keep me going. But alas, I don't want to leave. In fact, no one ever does, but it's a reality we all have to face. So tomorrow evening when I'm packing up my suitcase whilst holding back tears I will realize that I'm not saying goodbye, I'm saying see you later. Because I will. See you later San Diego...

You're every bit as beautiful as I'd remembered.

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

Funny... I guess.

I think it's funny, well, maybe not, but then again... You know what? It's funny. Not funny like "haha" but funny as in interesting. So I think it's funny/interesting that In N Out burger puts Bible verses on their food wrappers and containers. I find it even funnier that this is featured on their fries:

The verse Revelation 3:20 goes like this:
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door I will come in to him and dine with him and he with me."

So although I know that this isn't what the verse means really, I think it's funny that a verse that mentions eating with someone is featured on their fries. =)

In other news... as bored as I've been on this vacation because we've done just about nothing but eat and go rock climbing once, I am still loving just being here, in the sunshine =)

Cruisin' in the car, music blastin', windows open, sunglasses on, tank top, shorts, sandals, and a smile =)

That's all for now.

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

I tried Crab Meat today...

yeah. I did! And I have to say it was pretty good! I also tried Sweet Potatoes (again...) not my favorite thing. In addition I also tried hush puppies (okay!) and had some okra. But I didn't eat a full meal at all today and now I'm hungry again. Time for some good old PB&J and Grape Juice! =D I love that even though my brother's wife cooks crazy Thai food, they have some good old plain stuff for when their favorite picky sister comes to visit.

Off to eat now, listen to Thomas chat about tattoos some more, head to bed, and hopefully go shopping in the morning.

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! =)

Wanna Climb?

Have you ever been rock climbing? Until today, neither had I, and let me tell you, I did not have any idea that it was going to be this hard. But I think it was worth it. So this morning, away we went, me, A&B, and a couple of B's friends Mike and John. We drove over to Vertical Hold...

Which is apparently the largest indoor rock climbing facility in Southern California.

To say that Vertical Hold has everything is a severe understatement. They had literally EVERYTHING, as seen in the picture below that I found on their website (sadly, we were slightly preoccupied and didn't take photos... =[ ) and you can indeed see that they have everything.

My favorite thing was bouldering. It was really fun to climb all over that thing there in the middle. Probably the most fun I think I've ever had. After all is said and done, for $16 including gear rental, I'd definitely do this again. I've already googled a place to do it in Boston and made plans with one of my roommates.

So, the question is...wanna climb???

Springtime Inspirations

Inspiration

Many people tend to find inspiration in different things, places, and objects. For some people, they find their inspiration in music, fashion, talent, colors, food, the kitchen, or other random every day places. This, is where I find mine. (Sidenote: I had a really hard time picking and choosing which ones to use, so this may be part 1 for now.)
