Sunday's Lesson: Bachata :)

Yes it's Sunday, and no we don't have class today, but I want to talk to you/teach you about something I have (fairly) recently learned! So buckle up, and get ready to learn about Bachata!

So what is this Bachata thing, Abby? You may ask.

Well, Bachata is an amazing, super fun dance that originated in the Dominican Republic (shout out to mi Dominicana! You know who you are!) According to Wikipedia it is a full 8 count in side to side motion. On every fourth beat, you tap and pop your hip a little bit. It 's more complicated to explain in words than it is to show you. (I'll plug some example videos in at the end so you can see what it looks like.) As with any other Latin dance, it is very hip oriented, and smooth.

There's also another component to Bachata, as there is with any dance: the music. Often very romantic (and obviously in Spanish, one of the most -at least in my opinion- seductive/romantic languages ever.) and slow, it is the kind of music that puts you at ease and makes you just want to sway back and forth in a peaceful rhythm. In addition to this, a couple of the Bachata singers I've become familiar with are quite easy on the eyes :)

So here, enjoy my current favorite Bachata song, and some videos that showcase the dance itself.

Corazon sin Cara - Prince Royce
(This literally translates to "faceless heart", the song is about
inner beauty and love living within one's soul.) Lyrical translation here.

and here are some videos to teach you, if you desire to learn... (they're really short.)

and the finished product (although much less professional) looks like this:

Enjoy, and Happy Sunday!

Peace, ♥ , and happiness! :)
